Partners from across Europe will launch the inaugural Cancer Literacy Day, a landmark initiative that aims to become a permanent annual European movement dedicated to advancing equitable access to cancer knowledge. Coordinated through the CURTAIN project (Beating Cancer Inequalities through Literacy in Europe) and supported by a growing network of EU4Health and Cancer Mission projects, Cancer Literacy Day contributes directly to the objectives of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan and the EU Cancer Mission.
Cancer Literacy Day is a high-profile multi-stakeholder dialogue, serving as a platform for discussing strategies, presenting best practices and highlighting the importance of cancer literacy in reducing the cancer burden across Europe. The event positions cancer literacy as a European priority, emphasising its impact at every societal level – citizens, patients, healthcare professionals, organisations and health systems – while acknowledging the impact of data, digital, AI & LLMs on this domain.
Structured on five key themes, Cancer Literacy Day brings a 3-hour session of moderated panels discussions. The inaugural event reunites several European initiatives whose missions aim to make a difference in the cancer ecosystem through literacy, building momentum for long-term commitment and collaboration.
